What did I get myself into this time?

Just got a 200 pound Lowery organ delivered to my house. A couple months ago I saw a facebook add this organ for sale. I sent the lady a message that if she couldn't sell it I would be glad to take for free to recycle. She was sure she would sell. Well last week She asked if I still wanted it for $35 I told her again I could not pay. Later she said OK for free. I told her I thought about it and I would have to turn her down because I could not get it I did not have truck and too heavy. She volunteered her husband and son to deliver. I could not turn it down. I knew I could recycle everything but the cabinet and figured I would cut up and throw in the trash a little bit at a time. When the husband delivered he asked if he could have it back, problem solved. It is a rolltop cabinet and he wants to make a desk.

I think I counted 18 circuit board. one looks like original transistors on a thick aluminum board. all the micro chips are plug in. Still have not found the power board yet. hoping for a big transformer or two.

These things were enormously expensive in their day Dan - probably 1970/80s. Now days I won't touch them even if they are offered for free! Impossible to sell and even too big & heavy to take home for the kids to play with! There sure are a lot of boards in there, but they don't look to be particularly good quality boards. Hope there's a decent transformer for you - and the speaker might be a good one! Sometimes you can sell the speakers to people who are making a guitar amplifier!

I did get for free and they delivered and then picked up the empty cabinet.

It was fun tearing down. I just wanted to say I scrapped a full size organ. I pulled probably 25 boards and at least a mile of wire. But I found what I think might be palladium. Every key and every tab has a temporary on switch of two wires that are closed by the key/switch. I know Hammond has palladium at these spots but mine was a lowery. See pic. I send my gold refinery a sample of each for them to shoot with their x-ray gun.
