  • Silver Calcium Battery

Hey all, just wondering if anyone has messed with silver calcium batteries? I picked one up in a scrap run the other day and was not previously aware of them. A bit of research online led to an article that mentioned a potential silver content of up to 0.015% Ag per kg of plates. While not that valuable, it may have potential if the silver price ever rose sharply. Although it’s a bulky way to stack a low value item.

Cadmium is toxic waste ,so sounds like more trouble than worth .

Sorry you may have misread the title. Silver Calcium. Apparently the grids in the battery are made from a lead-calcium-silver alloy rather then lead-antimony. It might be another source of silver for the old back yard refiners.
