    Cast iron can take a lot of heat, however it must be applied slowly and evenly.

    Looking at your pour, it was mostly on one side of the pan and the sudden temperature difference was a massive thermal shock.

    If you want do cast into a sheet of some form, look at green sand and proper pouring technique.

    There's a heap of video's on youtube that should get you going in the right direction, like doing the pour on the ground with long tongs as this minimises the chance of being splashed on the upper body by hot metal in case of an unexpected mold or crucible failure.
